Diaverum is pleased to share that the d.HOLIDAY Fly Back Programme is being extended far beyond its original footprint. In addition to Europe, the programme will now cover five further regions – the Middle East, Central Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia and East Asia – as well as the standalone countries of Kazakhstan and China.

The wider rollout was unveiled at the Global Health Exhibition in Riyadh, a leading international forum for innovations that are reshaping healthcare, highlighting both the programme’s global relevance and its growing reach.

Initially introduced in June 2024, the d.HOLIDAY Fly Back Programme was designed to support holiday dialysis patients who receive their long-awaited kidney transplant call while travelling. Its purpose is straightforward but crucial: to help eligible patients return to their transplant hospital as quickly and safely as possible once a suitable organ becomes available.

Acting on behalf of the patient, the programme coordinates the fastest feasible journey home – whether that means travelling by plane, train or bus – and covers the associated transport costs. A key enabler is our collaboration with bookdialysis.com, the world’s leading holiday dialysis booking platform, which supports the speed, quality and responsiveness of the service. The programme is available both to Diaverum patients and to non-Diaverum patients who arrange their holiday dialysis at a Diaverum clinic via d.HOLIDAY.

When it first launched, the Fly Back Programme focused on travel within Europe, with a clear intention to broaden access over time. One year on, its expansion means that many more eligible kidney transplant patients can plan trips further afield, knowing they can travel with greater confidence and peace of mind. This development is another expression of Diaverum’s commitment to helping patients live rich, unrestricted lives despite the challenges of kidney disease.

The d.HOLIDAY Fly Back Programme also reflects our dedication to advancing transplantation as a treatment option for all eligible patients. While other therapies manage symptoms or slow the progression of disease, transplantation can restore kidney function close to normal levels and allow people to reclaim their daily lives from the limitations of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD). For this reason, Diaverum regards access to transplantation as a key quality indicator within its patient-centric CKD 5 care model.

Commenting on the expansion, Michaela Blomstrand, Global Director of Patient Experience & Stakeholder Management, said:

“I am incredibly proud of what the d.HOLIDAY Fly Back Programme has become and what this expansion represents – giving even more eligible kidney transplant patients freedom of movement. Travel is such a fundamental part of life, whether you’re exploring new places or reconnecting with loved ones across borders, which is what makes this programme so important. Being on a transplant waiting list means being on call 24/7, so knowing we can give a greater number of patients the chance to travel with peace of mind is something I’m truly proud of.”

Ziyad Kabli, Chief Operating Officer, Diaverum Middle East & Asia, added:

“The expansion of the d.HOLIDAY Fly Back Programme represents an important milestone in our mission to enable patients to live fulfilling lives. The Global Health Exhibition in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, was the ideal platform to share this achievement and reaffirm Diaverum’s ongoing commitment to shaping the future of healthcare.”
